Assemble is a nonprofit organization and community space for arts and technology education located in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood.
At our core, our mission is to build confidence through making. By creating approachable opportunities for learners of all ages to engage with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) based activities.
Community and Outreach
Located at 4824 Penn Avenue puts us right in the middle of Pittsburgh’s Friendship, Garfield, and Bloomfield neighborhoods. Assemble is proud to connect the children in our neighborhood with fun events and workshops to help kindle their interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
Assemble is a space to generate and share ideas. To that end, we welcome people who know things and people who want to know things into our community. Whether it’s a workshop for kids on how solar panels work, or an exhibition using modern technology to recreate the experience of a local farm in our space, Assemble is dedicated to sharing more ideas with more people.
Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) is the nation’s leading collaborative in robotics and workforce innovation. Structured as a public-private partnership, we accelerate transformative robotic technologies and education to increase U.S. global manufacturing competitiveness. Founded in January 2017 in Pittsburgh, PA by Carnegie Mellon University, and funded by the Department of Defense, ARM is part of the Manufacturing USA® network. The Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA) is a federated library system of 46 public libraries delivering service in more than 70 locations. Member Libraries include the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, which has 19 locations, and 45 other libraries and their branches located outside the City of Pittsburgh throughout Allegheny County. Each library is independent and has its own board of directors; as a consortium they share a countywide catalog, jointly offer downloadable books, audios, and videos as well as online databases, and provide a diverse calendar of programming events. The eiNetwork supports the automated library operations, Internet access, and free Wi-Fi services available at all county libraries. Through its coordination, ACLA expands the resources of local libraries beyond what they could accomplish individually.
Lettie Toujours is a creative design maven who will design and decorate your home, help you host a fabulous event, give you gentle guidance to learn something new; a modern day Auntie Mame giving you courage to throw your first dinner party or paint your dining room bright orange—and can arrange flowers for every event that you can throw at her.
For over a decade, Lettie has conceptualized, produced and executed high end social and corporate events in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia and New York. Her design aesthetic is called upon for floral and interior styling, imaginative set design for fashion shows, concerts and conferences. Lettie is also sought after by her for residential design projects, color consultations and selection of finishes. She is influenced by Paris, London, art, history and individual style.
Lettie has styled editorial design shoots for local and national magazines and blogs such as Green Wedding Shoes, The White Wren, Grey Likes Weddings, Pittsburgh Magazine and Whirl Magazine. Lettie is proud to be a Mom, an independent business owner, flaneur and ardent supporter of all that is local, sustainable and reusable.
Pittsburgh Seminary prepares women and men for ministries in established and emerging Christian communities around the world. Our faculty and educational resources cultivate theologically reflective and contextually engaged Christian leaders. Our programs nurture vocational formation for bearing witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our student body is comprised of Presbyterians, Baptists, Methodists, Episcopalians, Orthodox, and more than 20 other traditions from more than 30 U.S. states and countries around the world.
Toyz Electronics is an Ed-tech company focused on building a more diverse workforce for the future. We have an App that empowers diverse and disadvantaged students to become the Superhero versions of themselves and get to select Universities like Carnegie Mellon and MIT or pathway to sustainable careers in creative, hardware, software, manufacturing, or entrepreneurship. It’s based on our Black Superhero Father and Son co-founder duo. Father Damola Idowu enrolled at Syracuse University at 16 studying Mechanical Engineering and Economics. Son Wole Idowu enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University at 15 studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. We are based at the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University.
