The Cameron Heyward Foundation aims to empower, enlighten, and engage youth through innovative programs, partnerships, and community outreach. The Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA) is a federated library system of 46 public libraries delivering service in more than 70 locations. Member Libraries include the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, which has 19 locations, and 45 other libraries and their branches located outside the City of Pittsburgh throughout Allegheny County. Each library is independent and has its own board of directors; as a consortium they share a countywide catalog, jointly offer downloadable books, audios, and videos as well as online databases, and provide a diverse calendar of programming events. The eiNetwork supports the automated library operations, Internet access, and free Wi-Fi services available at all county libraries. Through its coordination, ACLA expands the resources of local libraries beyond what they could accomplish individually.
The Allegheny Land Trust (ALT) is a 501c3, independent Pennsylvania Corporation with the mission of conserving and caring for local land for the health and well-being of current and future generations.
We envision a resilient region with abundant green space that is easily accessible and recognized as essential to the quality of life for all.
Established in 1993, ALT has conserved almost 3,000 acres across Allegheny and Washington counties in over 30 municipalities. Strategic priorities include LAND CONSERVATION (protect rapidly disappearing green space for the overall well-being of the region), LAND STEWARDSHIP (manage and care for our conserved green spaces for perpetual community benefit), COMMUNITY CONSERVATION (empower communities through education, innovative programs, resources to create equity through conservation) and NATURE-BASED EDUCATION (foster an understanding of regional issues and solutions for current and future generations.
Assemble is a nonprofit organization and community space for arts and technology education located in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood.
At our core, our mission is to build confidence through making. By creating approachable opportunities for learners of all ages to engage with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) based activities.
Community and Outreach
Located at 4824 Penn Avenue puts us right in the middle of Pittsburgh’s Friendship, Garfield, and Bloomfield neighborhoods. Assemble is proud to connect the children in our neighborhood with fun events and workshops to help kindle their interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
Assemble is a space to generate and share ideas. To that end, we welcome people who know things and people who want to know things into our community. Whether it’s a workshop for kids on how solar panels work, or an exhibition using modern technology to recreate the experience of a local farm in our space, Assemble is dedicated to sharing more ideas with more people.
Breakthrough Pittsburgh is a tuition-free, six-year academic program that is dedicated to creating a community of students that have access to programs and resources that enrich their knowledge, experiences, and skills. It is a vibrant learning community, where highly motivated students matriculate to and graduate from college, many as the first in their families to do so, and current college students emerge as leaders who are inspired to become the next generation of educators and child advocates.
Doors Open Pittsburgh celebrates Pittsburgh’s diverse history and architecture, by providing behind-the-scenes access, some cool experience or just the opportunity to browse a collection of iconic buildings and cool spaces for ALL to enjoy in a innovative format during the annual event in October.
