Accreditation and Awards Validate Our Ongoing Commitment to Excellence.

Presbyterian SeniorCare Network voluntarily pursues accreditation through independent, expert organizations and has received numerous awards and recognitions that validate our quality and dedication to continuous improvement and innovation in our field.
Presbyterian SeniorCare and its affiliates Accredited by CARF-CCAC
CARF stands for: Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and CCAC stands for: Continuing Care Accreditation Commission. The CARF seal of approval shows that we are dedicated to excellence in care. It is a symbol of quality as credentialed by an independent trustworthy source.
CARF-CCAC provides a visible symbol that assures the public of our commitment to continually enhance the quality of services and programs with a focus on the satisfaction of our residents and their family members.
CARF-CCAC accreditation is the highest level of commendation that can be awarded to an eldercare provider– and it’s not even mandatory. Reaccreditation happens every five years. This is a voluntary survey process that our entire organization goes through that evaluates and helps to improve the quality and value of our living and care options.
Here’s what are we accredited for now through CARF-CCAC:
Aging Services Network: This means we are accredited as a whole system. In 2006, we were the first to be accredited as an Aging Services Network in PA, and the third and largest in the nation. We achieved reaccreditation in 2011 and will be pursuing reaccreditation again in 2016.
Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs): Longwood at Oakmont was first accredited in 2001 and has continued to maintain its cycle of accreditations, which it will pursue again in 2016.
Person-Centered Long-Term Care Communities: This applies only to skilled nursing communities and the Presbyterian SeniorCare Network communities in Washington (Southmont) and in Oakmont (The Willows) have been accredited since 2011. We will be pursuing reaccreditation in 2016.
Presbyterian SeniorCare Network Recognized for Innovation in Dementia Care
Presbyterian SeniorCare Network was recognized nationally in 2015 by LeadingAge, the association representing 6,000 not-for-profit organizations across the senior care industry, for Excellence in Dementia Care for piloting the SilentAlert Resident Monitor System at Woodside Place. The system was developed by NewCare Solutions and significantly reduced the number of night time falls.
In 2011, the Woodside Place program “In the Moment” was featured on WQED’s Pittsburgh 360. A Woodside Place Art Therapist proposed the program, which was modeled on a program at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, and developed it with the Carnegie Museum of Art. The program has been expanded and is offered to many dementia care providers, and in 2012 won the Innovation of the Year Award from LeadingAge PA. In 2014, the Art Therapist that developed the program was honored with the Outstanding Program award by the Pennsylvania Therapeutic Recreation Institute.
Woodside Place received numerous design awards, including the American Institute of Architects Ten-year Award in 2007 for its innovative dementia-specific design.
